The film

The Parts You Don’t Hear is set to be a miraculous untold musical journey helmed by directors Neil Innes and Nick Turner. Backed by the incredible music created by the legendary musicians of the time, and filled with insight by the people themselves, The Parts You Don’t Hear wants to examine the changing world of recording music through some the best ever captured.

Pre-production on the film began in September of 2014 after a short email conversation between Turner and John Wood; the director was asking the legendary engineer if there was a book about his life in music on the horizon. Surprisingly the answer was “No”. Disappointed, Turner contacted his friend, Innes with an idea to go bigger and delve deeper into the history of the little known studio with a documentary.

A shared love and a strange fascination with the now revered music made in the Chelsea studio, Innes and Turner soon discovered through a simple twist of fate that the story cut much deeper in to the body of rock and roll than either could have imagined. As they continued their research the reverence and the cult following of some of the bands who recorded within the walls of the old dairy at 46a Old Church St. would lead them right to the epicenters of ground breaking music in perhaps the most potent time in musical history.
