Jerry Boys: From Sound Techniques to Buena Vista Social Club

Today we met all round nice guy Jerry Boys who was in London for a brief visit away from his home in Cornwall. The engineer and producer talked us through his beginnings at Abbey Road as tape op working on tracks like Lady Madonna by The Beatles to The Zombies masterwork album Odyssey & Oracle before moving on to Olympic Studios and finally Sound Techniques, Chlesea as full on engineer. The first project he brought with him to Chelsea was the Zombies related band Argent‘s first album – an absolute cracker!

What Jerry Boys learned at Chelsea under John Wood he feels kept him in good stead all the way through his career to working with Ry Cooder on the astounding modern classic, Buena Vista Social Club. Many thanks Jerry for sparing your time and memories for us today and also for digging out some old vinyl records from your loft. You can find out more about Jerry at his website.

Special thanks to Marco Windham for filming for us again today.
